What to Watch Out For

Nothing really here to mention that will be of any real concern. This breed will be active around the house indoors, so be prepared to play games every day to burn up their energy and keep them content and happy.

Because these little guys have sweat glands they will not drool to balance their body heat. Being hairless they will need to wear a little coat in the cold weather to keep them warm.

Health Risks

Surprisingly these dogs do not suffer from skin problems like other hairless breeds. In the sun you will need to protect their skin, because they have no hair of course.

Some are known to get rashes on their skin from a grass allergy, however this is not a major concern. You should also apply lotion to their skin to stop it from getting dry.

Ideal Owner

The ideal owner of the American Hairless Terrier would be someone that loves to exercise and is very active. You will have to enjoy playing and have the time to do so to keep the dog happy and content.

These breeds are particularly good for allergy sufferers. If you suffer from dog allergies then this is the breed for you, this is without doubt one of the best small dog breeds for allergy sufferers.
