The Havanese is a gentle reserved little dog that is absolutely devoted to their owners. These dogs love to play although are very sensitive.

What to Watch Out For

These small dogs love to be around people and are devoted to their owners, they might suffer from separation problems. If no-one is at home for long periods then this might not be the breed for you.

Health Risks

I am pleased to say that there are only three things to take note of here; patellar luxation, cataracts and hypothyroidism.

The dogs long fur can bring in mud and dirt from outside into your home and needs brushing on a daily basis to prevent mats from forming.

As you can see in the photos, the dog has long hair around the face, this really does need to be clipped short or tied back to allow the dog to see clearly.

Ideal Owner

The perfect match for the Havanese would be a gentle caring owner that will enjoy grooming and playing with this sensitive and rather active little dog.
