These small dog breeds are more lazy than the others, if you have little time for walks then these could well be the dogs for you.

Most of the time all small dogs are more active around the house anyway, so generally only need to be taken out for walks once or twice a day. Some breeds you might even have to coax out of the chair to get them to go out for a walk, they are more than happy to laze around the home all day long.

Which Low Energy Small Dog is the One for You?

The American Cocker Spaniel needs a medium amount of exercise each day and does like to play. It’s not the least active dog on the list that’s for sure.

The Basenji dog needs daily exercise, one walk a day will be enough for this little dog. Even if you can’t find time to take this dog for a walk then 30 minutes play time will do.

The Bedlington Terrier is another small breed that requires a medium amount of exercise each day. These dogs are happy to chill at home for most of the day, with one long or very active walk with games of fetch involved being enough to keep them happy and content.

The Bichon Frise should not be left home alone, they are well know to get a little destructive around the house. These little dogs are fairly active and will need two 30 minute walks a day to keep them happy.

The Boston Terrier is lively around the home therefore does not need to be taken out for many long walks each day. One short walk everyday will be enough for this dog. This is definitely an indoors dog, if you are short on time to take a dog for a walk everyday then this is the dog for you.

The Brussels Griffon is another small dog with low energy levels that is perfectly happy to lie around the house all day. One walk each day will be enough for this dog. You should be aware that these dogs are quite difficult to train.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will be fairly active around the home and will only require a run around the yard or garden each day to keep them perfectly happy.

The Coton De Tulear is a dog that will do everything to please you. Give this dog plenty of play time everyday and a short walk and they will be perfectly happy.

The English Cocker Spaniel will enjoy a long walk each day combined with anything from 20 minutes to 30 minutes of play each day to keep them happy.

The English Toy Spaniel will get rid of most of their energy around the home, therefore you will only need to walk them once or twice a day for short periods of time.

The French Bulldog has very low energy levels and does not require a lot of exercise at all. You should drag them out for at least one walk each day just to keep them healthy, even if they don’t want to.

The Havanese has medium energy levels and requires at least one long walk each day. One long walk together with playtime at home will be enough to keep this little dog content and happy.

The Italian Greyhound will be happy with one short walk each day and will be perfectly happy to stay at home all day. If it is cold outside be sure to get them to wear a coat.

The Japanese Chin requires hardly any exercise at all and has very low energy levels indeed. One short walk combined with some playtime at home will be enough for these cute little dogs.

The Kyi-Leo has medium energy levels and will burn most of this up playing around the home. A short walk and some play time will keep them happy.

The Lhasa Apso needs just a few short walks each day and is just perfect for those of you out there that are tight on space at home. Even if the weather is bad outside and you don’t go for a walk on the odd day here and there this dog will be quite happy sat on your lap at home all day.

The Lowchen is a people dog and is quite happy to stay at home all day. Be warned that they are known for barking a lot if left home alone. One walk a day will be enough for these little guys.

The Norwich Terrier have a medium amount of exercise requirements and would like to be taken out for walks at least twice a day to keep them happy. Walks lasting anything between 15 and 20 minutes will be enough for them.

The little Pekingese dog will get rid of most of their energy running around your home. However, these guys do like to go for a walk, 1 or 2 short walks each day will be enough.

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi do need at least 2 longish walks each day, they have more energy to burn than most of the others on the list.

The Pug are without doubt the perfect dog for older people looking for companionship. These guys have very low energy levels and are very low maintenance. One walk a day is enough for this small dog breed.

The Sealyham Terrier needs one daily walk, these dogs will not be very active around the home. For a terrier this is one lazy little dog indeed.

The Shiba Inu does like to play and will require at least 2 short walks each day to keep them happy. These dogs like to chase, so keep them on the leash when you are out for walks.

The Shih Tzu is not an active dog and has very low energy levels. A few walks each day and a little play time is enough. These small dogs are more than happy to be sat on your lap infront of the TV all day.

The Skye Terrier has medium exercise needs. One fairly long walk each day together with a run around the yard or garden with some play time is a must to keep this dog happy.
